Welcome to The Third Place!
(the space formerly known as the library)
A lot of people wonder where the name The Third Place came from. Ironically enough, the idea came to me from a book: The Great Good Place by Ray Oldenburg. He suggests that everyone needs (or maybe has) three places in their lives: work/school, home, and a third place. A third place is that special "get away" place where a person can go to just be. Whether that is to work, to relax, to have a conversation, or to read, a third place serves as "the place". Imagine Starbucks or Barnes and Noble. The atmosphere and the way in which the space is utilized is very much what we want here at Timberview (minus the coffee).
