  I.              Dress Code 

The KISD Board of Trustees believes that proper etiquette, social customs and good grooming are a definite part of the educational process. To this end, students should wear to school clothing that is neat, clean and appropriate which meets the standards of the district’s educational environment. Any extreme in clothing, hair, cosmetics, jewelry or appearance that may disrupt the normal operations of the school will not be acceptable.

a.  Hair shall be neat, clean and of a natural color and must be worn out of the eyes.

 

b.      Long sleeved, solid white, button down or polo shirt with a collar and long enough to be tucked in at all times. Sleeves must be worn down and not rolled or pushed up. Shirts must be buttoned up to the collar bone.  No tight fitting shirts (determination by administrative staff). No logos or designs.

c.       Long khaki pants with belt loops. Pants must fit and be worn at the natural waist at all times and cannot be baggy or drag the floor. No torn or patched pants or pants with holes. No logos or designs.

d.      Solid brown or black belt with a small, plain buckle. No metal studs, rings or designs.

 

e.       Closed in solid brown, or black shoes with matching shoelaces. No house shoes, slippers or moccasins are permitted. No logos or designs.

f.       Solid white, brown or black socks. No logos or designs may be visible above the shoe line.

 

g.      Brown or black pony tail holders and hair clips only. Nothing excessive.

 

h.      ALL shirt undergarments must be solid white, e.g. t-shirts, camisoles, bras. No logos, artwork, graphic designs or printing shall be on undergarments.

 

i.        Head coverings of any type are not allowed, e.g. caps, beanies, hats, and scarves.

 

 

 

j.        Jewelry and visible body piercing are not allowed.

 

k.      Visible tattoos are not allowed. Students must furnish their own band aids to cover visible tattoos.

 

l.        Jackets, coats or sweaters may be worn to school; however, any outer wear garment must be removed prior to entering the building. The student is responsible for hanging the garment outside the classroom after it has been checked.

 

In the judgment of the school administration, students are not to wear or bring items with pictures, logos, phrases, letters or words printed on them that are obscene, pornographic or disruptive.  

Items representing gang related activity or gang graffiti are not allowed. 

Items depicting prohibited or illegal substances are not allowed.
