Choir 2010 Celebrations

The KHS Choirs competed in the UIL Concert/Sightreading Contest today (Thursday) and had our most successful year yet! 

The results are: 

  • Cadence Treble Choir (NV) – Straight 1’s and a Sweepstakes Trophy (directed by Josh Powell)
  • Canticle NV Mixed Choir – Straight 1’s and a Sweepstakes Trophy (directed by Josh Powell)
  • Varsity Men’s Choir – Straight 1’s in the Sightreading Room and a Plaque (directed by Chi-Chi King)
  • Varsity Treble Choir – Straight 1’s and a Sweepstakes Trophy (directed by Chi-Chi King)
  • Varsity Mixed Choir – Straight 1’s and a Sweepstakes Trophy (directed by Chi-Chi King)

That makes 4 Sweepstakes trophies and 1 UIL Plaque.

UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest Results
February 6, 2010 

On Saturday, February 6th, 98 students from Keller High School Choir competed in the UIL Region 2 Solo/Ensemble Contest.  We are excited and proud to announce that these talented singers brought back 57 gold solo medals, 28 gold ensemble medals, 12 silver solo medals, and 3 bronze solo medals.  Keller High School singers received a grand total of 100 medals. 

The following singers received a gold medal and a 1st Division Superior rating on their Class 1 solo and are eligible to compete at the UIL State Solo/Ensemble in Austin this coming May:

KELLER HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR

2010 TEXAS ALL-STATE CHOIR RESULTS

The competition for membership into the Texas All‑State Choir is a long and arduous process.  56 KHS choir students competed in the 1st round that took place in September.  After the 2nd round in October and the 3rd round in November, there were 9 KHS singers left.  The Keller High School Choir Department is proud to announce that 5 of those singers won a place in the All‑State Choir in the 4th and final round that took place this last Saturday (January 9) in Abilene.

The following students will be performing in this renowned choir in San Antonio on February 13th.  They are:
Taylor Barnes (Senior-1st Sop.) – 2nd Chair – Texas All-State Mixed Choir
Kelsey Harper (Junior-2nd Sop.) – 8th Chair – Texas All-State Women’s Choir
Sterling Kohout (Senior-Bass 2) – 5th Chair – Texas All-State Men’s Choir
Diana Mabie (Junior-2nd Sop.) – 6th Chair – Texas All-State Women’s Choir
Stephanie Peterson (Junior-1st Sop.) – 3rd Chair – Texas All-State Mixed Choir
