FCCLA News

Six students competed in various events.

  • Lindsey Crase (10th)  and Nicole Whitfield (12th) both competed in a Leadership Enhancement Opportunity (LEO) in the area of Etiquette.  Both took GOLD medals.  These girls sure know their manners!!
  • Megan Crase (12th)  & Mackenzie Dougherty (11th)  competed in the Interior Design Event.  Megan  took 3rd in the state.  Megan will be graduating this spring and will be an Interior Design major in college this fall.  Mackenzie already can’t wait to compete again next year as a senior!!!
  • Melinda Fuqua (12th) & Whitney Fackler (12th) competed in Career Investigations.  Melinda took 1st in the state and will continue on to the FCCLA National Leadership Conference & Competition in Chicago this summer.  Both Melinda and Whitney are planning on continuing on to college in the fall to pursue degrees in the career fields they investigated.

Our 7th student, Hailey Miller,  attended representing Keller High School and Region II  as the 2010 – 2011 Vice President of Finance.  She also will attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference this summer in Chicago.  She will be also be attending Leadership Camp in June to help prepare her for this upcoming school year as a region officer.

To add to Keller High School’s list of achievements at this conference, Melinda Fuqua also received a Blue Bell FCCLA scholarship for $1000. 

And finally but not least, Keller High School FCCLA also raised over $1000 in donations for the TX FCCLA community service project.  This money went to the Children’s Miracle Network.  In total TX FCCLA raised $14,656 and KHS students played a substantial role in this achievement. 

DECA NEWS  
Three DECA students will be representing KHS in Louisville, Kentucky at our International Conference and Competition.  Please help me in congratulating:
  • Courtney Kolodziej
  • Zach Kowalski
  • And Randall Snell

The three students listed above have competed at district and state to advance to this level, beating out 99% of the state to represent the state of Texas and KHS.

In addition,  this year for the first time, we will be awarding a $1,000 local DECA scholarship to one of our students
BPA NEWS  
BPA had 24 students qualify for state competition this year! Of those 24, five will be attending National Competition in Anaheim, CA in May.

  • Forrest Browning and James Stubbington placed 1st at State in Computer Animation Team
  • Austen Knudson placed 4th at State in Medical Office Procedures
  • Madelyn Fagerman placed 4th at State in Advanced Accounting
  • Heather Brannick will be receiving her Ambassador Torch Award

In addition, National Alternates were Sammie Roberts, Gareth Orser, Kate Fernandez, Courtney Graviett, Beau Brundrett, Riley Woodward, Sagar Gandhi, Stephen Cain, David Herb, and Jonathan Slack
