Announcements: Fourth Grade Opportunities for Leadership

Title

Fourth Grade Opportunities for Leadership

Body

We have been in the process of setting up Honor Guard for the 2010-2011 school year. Soon we will begin setting up our mentoring program volunteers. I recently interviewed 67 fourth grade students who applied to be in Honor Guard. We wanted to give our students the experience of going through an application process and a “job interview.” Hopefully, it was a worthwhile experience for everyone involved. I came away from the experience overwhelmed by the high caliber of our Heritage fourth graders who applied to be in Honor Guard. They did a good job answering the interview questions that I asked them. Not every single fourth grade student who applied to be in Honor Guard was placed in an Honor Guard job. Part of the reason is that we will need some of these outstanding students to serve as mentors or to do other responsibilities they have in their classes. I am truly impressed with our fourth graders at Heritage. They are a well-spoken group of students who already are aspiring to discover and use their unique talents and reach their potential.
