21 Day Healthy Snack Challenge: January 23-Feb 12

A few weeks ago the PE Teachers of Keller ISD were presented with information about the Medical City Children's Hospital 21 Day Healthy Snack Challenge. Coach Leach, along with the other PE teachers, knew their school was ready for this challenge.

Later this week, your child will be bringing home the North Texas Recipe Book for 2017 along with information about this healthy snack challenge. Parents are to sign up their child on-line by January 22 and then assist them in tracking their healthy snack in the back of the recipe book.

Once you receive the recipe book and informational flyer, you can email Coach Leach at if you have any questions.

Volunteers Needed

Classes are visiting the library each week and checking out lots of wonderful books. In addition, our second, third, and fourth graders have reading buddies to whom they read weekly. Due to the large volume of materials being checked out and in and the number of new books being added to the collection, the need for volunteers is greater than ever. So if you have just a couple of hours per week, please consider spending them in the IES library.

Contact or phone 817-744-6122 for more information.

No Soda November 2016

The 6th Annual No Soda November is just a few days away. This is a great opportunity for your IES student to start developing healthy habits by reducing the amount of soda they drink. Since this challenge started 5 years ago, more and more students have completed the challenge by not drinking a soda for an entire month. This year 7 other Keller ISD schools and Dr. Reid have joined the challenge. At the end of the month we will determine which school has the highest percentage of students who go soda free for the month. Encourage your student to help IES win!

What to do: Print off the attached calendar or make your own calendar to track your child’s progress. Starting November 1, put a smiley face on each date your child doesnot drink a soda.
Turn in the results: Please turn in completed calendars to Coach Leach or fill out the google form (Link below) by Tuesday, December 6.
