Prior to my arrival at Basswood, I was the Physical Education Aide at Bette Perot Elementary (also in Keller ISD) for 2 years. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2012 where I majored in Physical Education, and also was a member of their football team. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, watching any sport on TV, and of course exercising. Physical fitness is a big part of my life, and for the upcoming school year I am striving to let your student know how beneficial and fun exercise can really be, and hope to instill a lifelong love of physical activities. What do I need to wear to PE?In order for all students to safely participate in P.E. activities, shoes for P.E. should be rubber soled, and MUST have a closed toe and heel. It is important for students to wear tennis shoes for class, not only for safety, but in order to actively participate in class activities. Not wearing appropriate shoes to P.E. may result in having to do an alternate activity for the day, as well as affect their participation grade.. This is not a punishment, just a safer way to help the student receive their physical activity for the day. What do I do if my child is unable to participate in PE due to illness or injury?Students who are unable to participate, or have restricted activity need a note from their guardian explaining why they cannot participate or any activity restrictions they may have. If a student is out longer than 3 class periods of Physical Education, a doctor's note will be required. The doctor's note should state how long they are excused or restricted and when the student can return to physical activity.
