 The Parkwood Prospect

Pros●pect (n) – anticipation; expectation; a looking forward

I hope you're enjoying another beautiful weekend in North Texas.  We've been really fortunate lately.  As you may know, tomorrow is a student holiday, so our bulldogs have a shortened week ahead.  Although classes are not in session, our teachers will be meeting with families, and working diligently.  While Monday will be a quiet day without our kids, Tuesday evening promises to be full of fun and laughter.

On Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., our PHIS PTA is proud to sponsor a family friendly performance by the Foundation for Laughter.  Please join us for "The Science of the Circus," a free and entertaining journey into Newton's Laws, basic machines, and other principles of physics.  If you'd like more details, or to RSVP, please click here.  In addition to The Science of the Circus, our PTA is actively preparing for their biggest event of the fall.

Starting online today, and continuing in-person next week, admission bands will go on sale for the 2017 fall social.  This year's theme is "Time Warp," and it's sure to be an exciting, memorable event for our bulldogs.  Detailed information regarding the social will be provided by our PTA via paper flyers this Tuesday, and is available by clicking here.  Please save the date for your child!

As you can see on the calendar below, the end of October is going to be very busy, but a lot of fun.  Our students and staff are looking forward to the Time Warp social, a special presentation by Journeyman Ink, Red Ribbon Week, and more.  Until then, our first step is welcoming our bulldogs back to school on Tuesday.  Enjoy the remainder of the Columbus Day weekend, and as always, have a great week ahead!

Giving you my "Bulldog Best, Never Less,"

Brad Tyler, Principal

Join the Keller ISD Visioning Process - KISD has initiated a visioning process, built on the community's input, to define the district's focus in coming years.  The District will collect input from parents, teachers, students, administrators, and local citizens in every corner of Keller ISD, as it actively listens to the ways in which the community wants to frame the future of KISD. The process will consist of public forums, one-on-one interviews, a district-wide visioning questionnaire, and various workshops.  For more information, click here.

Encourage Participation in PTA Reflections Contest - Positive recognition is the focus of "Reflections," and students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression while telling their own story.  This year's theme is "Within Reach," and students can submit original work in the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.  A flyer with more details can be found here.

Sponsor Casey's Kids 21st Annual Fun Run - The Keller Council or PTAs is organizing this year's Casey's Kids Fun Run on November 11, and they're seeking sponsorship donations from individuals and local businesses.  In return for your generous, tax-deductible donation, individuals and sponsors who contribute $50 or more will appear on this year's Fun Run t-shirt.  If you or your business are interested in supporting Keller ISD families in need, and would like to make a sponsorship donation, please click here for more details.  The sponsorship deadline is October 20.

Collect Box Tops for Education - Our PTA manages the Box Tops program at PHIS, and rewards prizes for the top 5th and 6th grade contributors each six weeks!  Please collect Box Tops in an envelope or baggie, and then write your student's name, homeroom teacher, and grade on the outside.  Collections can be dropped in the Box Tops Collection Box in our PHIS lobby.  If you have questions, please contact Heather Rudzik at boxtops@phispta.org.
