 Blue Box Project

Blue Box Project is a community service initiative, started by Stacy Edington, at Fossil Ridge High School in memory of Rebecca Read. Rebecca is the daughter of Buddy Read, vice principal of Fossil Ridge from 2005 through the 2015 school year. As a mission project through her church, she established a community service project to collect donations of sanitary and personal hygiene products for women of domestic violence. Her hope was that this project would continue for years to come. Sadly, Rebecca lost her life in a vehicle accident summer of 2016.

Fossil Ridge Solar Eclipse Plan

Dear Fossil Ridge High School Parents/Guardians:

Per Keller ISD guidelines, Fossil Ridge High School students will not participate in any outdoor activities from 11:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m. on Monday, August 21 during the solar eclipse, unless students are following NASA-recommended safety precautions and are closely supervised by their teacher.

Please notify us if you prefer your child refrain from participating in any outside eclipse-viewing activity, and a designated location inside the school will be made available for your student.

Parents of students whose classes will not be viewing the eclipse are welcome to dismiss their student from school during this time if they prefer that their child view the eclipse with parental supervision.

The eclipse is expected to begin around 11:39 a.m. and end at 2:38 p.m. with the maximum coverage in the North Texas area expected be at 1:08 p.m.

Safety is Key for an enjoyable eclipse experience.  Keller ISD has utilized several helpful resources in preparing for Monday's eclipse, such as:

  • The Exploratorium offers a collection of videos on safe eclipse viewing, including many tips and tools that are accessible for teachers and can make the eclipse viewable by groups of students.
  • NASA'S Eclipse FAQ site offers some great safety and science information including tips for teachers interested in getting eclipse-viewing glasses for their students. All eclipse-viewing glasses should be certified ISO 12312-2 international standard.

Live streaming from the path of totality:

  • For four hours surrounding the eclipse, NASA will host an Eclipse Megacast providing unique broadcast coverage across multiple sites across the country. This is a hosted and narrated experience that will offer students interaction with scientists via social media.
  • The Exploratorium will be filming the event from two different locations and live streaming it globally, including one stream with no narration.

Student Council will be selling Senior Activity cards for $110 every lunch on B days. The Senior Activity card includes:

  • Prom Ticket
