Choir Instruction in KISD

Choir begins in the sixth grade. These classes focus on establishing and developing basic musical and performance skills building from the general music classes at the elementary level. These choirs offer a variety of performance opportunities including concerts, community events, and U.I.L. contests. Students are also encouraged to participate in individual events such as Solo & Ensemble Contest and All-Region Choir auditions. Participation at the high school level includes solo/ensemble, TMEA auditions, Show Choir, and U.I.L. concert and sight-reading competitions.

2010-2011 All-State Choir Members

On Saturday, January 8, Keller ISD band and choir members competed in the final round of TMEA All-State Choir auditions in Abilene. Only one-half of one percent of students who begin the audition process in September actually earns a place in the all-state group. Over 55,000 students initially entered the All-State competitive process that can go for as many as four rounds of competition.

The following eight Keller High choir students earned a place in one of the All-State choirs:

Brittany Deisher, Kelsey Harper, Megan Kolster, Stephanie Peterson, Taylor Coleman, Heather Poole, Trey Robbins, and Zach Steele.
