On Saturday, January 9, Keller ISD band and choir members competed in the final round of TMEA All-State Choir auditions in Abilene. Only one-half of one percent of students who begin the audition process in September actually earns a place in the all-state group. Over 55, 000 students initially entered the All-State competitive process that can go for as many as four rounds of competition.
The following six Keller High choir students earned a place in one of the All-State choirs: Taylor Barnes, Kelsey Harper, Sterling Kohout, Diana Mabie, and Stephanie Peterson.
Three Central High School choir students were named to all-state choirs and one student was designated as an alternate. Those students who earned this prestigious honor are: Travis Threlkeld, Chrystle Hicks, and Patricia Krecklow. Kinsey Moline will serve as an alternate.
All-State performances are held as part of the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention, Feb. 10-13, 2010 in San Antonio. Over 24,000 people from Texas and beyond will attend over 290 workshops, 65 concerts and visit over 1,000 exhibit booths at this nation's largest music educator's convention.
