Band Instruction in KISD

The band program begins at the intermediate school level in the sixth grade and students have the opportunity to continue through the twelfth grade. Beginning classes focus on the development of correct musical and performance skills. In most cases, students are divided in "like-instrument" classes. In addition to further development of their basic fundamental skills, these bands offer a variety of performance opportunities including concerts, pep rallies, football games and UIL contests. Students are encouraged to participate in individual events such as Solo & Ensemble Contest All-Region, Area, and State Auditions.

TMEA State Honor Band Results

KISD bands take top honors

The Keller High and Central High Wind Ensembles were the top two groups, placing first and second respectively, for Conference 5A Region 2 and were both selected to advance to the area honor band competition. This is a first for the Central program. Timber Creek Band, in their first year of competition, advanced to area in the honor band race after finishing first for Conference 3A Region 2.
