 Art Instruction in KISD

Formal art instruction is offered at all secondary campuses in Keller ISD.  Students are introduced to the elements of art and continue through basic design, methods and materials. Beginning at the seventh grade level student may select art as an elective.  By challenging their imaginations with new techniques and materials, the students refine their skills by expressing their thoughts and ideas creatively.  At the high school level students may enroll in College level Advanced Placement courses.  All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.

 Congressional Art Competition

Only 20 students in the 26th Congressional District were selected as finalist, and KISD had 3 of those 20. We also had 2 additional students selected as honorable mention.26th .

held at Bryan High School in Bryan ISD, April 13-14.

While the artworks were being judged, students also participated in professional workshops, lectures, slide presentations, and demonstrations.

There were 24,000 students who participated in 25 regional VASE events this year. Out of the 1,430 state qualifiers, only 150 artworks were honored with the Gold Seal Award out of the entire state of Texas, four of which were awarded to KISD students are
