Welcome Back !!!
A little bit about me for those of you that do not know me. I am Texas Certified EC-12 LOTE Spanish & EC-4 Bilingual Spanish. I am a Native Speaker. I come from Cuban and Ecuadorian parents, although I was born in New York and grew up most of my life in California.
My goal is to help the kids learn as much as possible in order to allow them to not only pass with confidence but to have what they need to succeed next year in Spanish 2 & 3. I have made the students aware that if they are willing to work hard and do what it takes to pass and succeed in my class, I am willing to whatever it takes to help them.
On my site I have links to both the Realidades textbook and workbook online along with the Conjuguemos website for the students to review vocabulary, homework pages and practice verb conjugations. I also have a calendar where I post items regarding upcoming school and classroom activities such as tests.
We are making a move to My Big Campus for better communication with our students. So, I am posting all information regarding upcoming tests, copies of assignments, power point presentations, study sheets and reviews there for easy access. Although, as we are still not using this site 100% I will also be posting the same information on my website for both you and the students.
I have Regular After School Tutorials scheduled for Wednesday Afternoons @ 3:40pm. I highly recommend students struggling come see me before getting too far behind. If that day and time do not work I am willing to make accommodations and come in either before or after school, and during my conference hour or lunch (1st / 3rd period) if necessary. All they have to do is let me know in advance to make sure I am here. We also have Club Ed during lunches were even if I am not available another teacher in our department is, that way a student may make up an exam whether they are able to get together with me or not. There are many opportunities for students to bring any unsatisfactory grades up, so there is no reason for anyone not to be successful in my class!
Although I realize learning a second language is not easy. I believe every one of my students can do so if they choose to, but it does take work and practice. I appreciate you helping them and seeing that they keep up with their work. Please keep checking Grade Speed and talk to your sons/daughters and remind them that it is never too late to do what needs to be done to pass and succeed. Do not let them ever give up. I won’t.
I look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible in these upcoming months. Please feel free to contact me via email or telephone, my door is always open.
