Hello, I your child's dyslexia specialist. I have been trained using MTA from Shelton School in Dallas. I have a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree from Georgia State University from Atlanta, Georgia. I passed the national test and am registered as a Certified Academic Language Therapist in Texas. This is my 27 year to teach. I have taught 19 years in KISD , 4 years from Atlanta, Georgia and 3 years from Columbus, Ohio. Your child is with me 45 minutes for 5 days a week. They are being pulled during their FLEX time On Friday's we will be working on Comprehension and Composition.
If you are concerned about a child having dyslexia, please:
1. Meet with your child's teachers. Discuss your concerns. Teachers will notify SIT team and they will schedule a meeting time after paper work has been filled out.
2. Make sure it is not a health issue like poor eye sight or hearing. One of the first things we do is do a hearing and eye test. If there is a problem, we can not proceed until this is addressed.
3.. The SIT Team will let me know so we can start the formal Dyslexia Screening and possible assessments.
Please let me know if I can help you with any questions you may have about dyslexia. We have web sites and books that we can share with you.
