Welcome to the I-Lab (or Intervention Lab) program at Woodland Springs Elementary School.  My name is Kris Eizenga and I am the Intervention Support Teacher for our campus and the teacher of our I-Lab classes.  I am excited to welcome your children to our class.

Your child's scheduled I-Lab time was selected in cooperation with your child's homeroom teacher and does not conflict with lunch, recess, AMP classes, or most importantly, time for direct instruction in the classroom.  I-Lab students are also not required to make up work missed when they are out of the classroom for I-Lab.

In I-Lab your child participates in a variety of literacy or math activities.  Our literacy program focuses on building phonics skills in the context of meaningful reading.   We use the SIPPS program.  Our math program focuses on developing number sense, math concepts and computation skills.  We use the Targeted Math Intervention and Do the Math programs.  SuccessMaker is a computer based program we may use with either reading or math.

You can best help the success of your child by having them read or practice their math facts throughout the week at home.  Your child's homework for his/her classroom frequently includes these activities.  Do support your child's progress by expecting them to practice reading and math skills every night.
